A Seniors Moment
**We would like to post thoughts, comments and stories from moms who have been ostracized by their adult children and denied access to their grandchildren. Please send info to rmwccommunity@gmail.com
Mother's Day: Mother's day not only brings joy but sometimes pain as we think about our lost children. The ones who lived with someone else growing up, the ones who are struggling with childhood issues, the ones who moved away from us in adulthood. The ones we are now helpless to lead through their despair or destruction. We have done what we could...all that is left is to love them and to forgive ourselves. Buy yourself flowers, celebrate the fact that through your body you gave life to another, be kind and nurture yourself. Mother's Day isn't about recieving and being recognized, it is about supporting yourself, healing yourself and caring for yourself. It is your day! Take it.
And This Is The Way…
As my mother enters her 60’s
I feel a sense of urgency.
I want to do everything
with her NOW.
I have become the
alert student.
Her teachings are very
important to me.
Many stories are marked in my memory.
Her eyes smile, showing
a playfulness that has
become a strength for me.
Casual clothes free her
to explore life with
her motor home.
Her aging has put me
at a crossroad.
Generations of daughters have
experienced this place.
It is the wisdom mothers
pass on unknowing.
I will honor her
through my daughter.

43 Pins
As I take the
pins off your
bulletin board,
I am rushed with
memories of your life.
The artwork of the sheltie,
collages of your rabbit,
gruesome rock posters
and the gentle scene
of the nursery village-
full of young animals &
soft pastel colors.
Tears interrupt
my count.
The 35th pin takes
me to your love
of nature walks
and reminds me that
you swim with the otter.
Your spirit of science with
all the scat you examined,
determining that bears do
eat blackberries…
A concert ticket stub
ends my symphony of joy.
